A Deeply Personal Conference, Mental Health & Employee Wellness for Law Firms

This past May, I “came out” as an Entrepreneur, CEO, Husband and Father who battles depression in a public LinkedIn blog post entitled “My Long Shadow” and decided to dedicate the next chapter of my career to normalizing the discussion surrounding mental health and treatment.

Part of these efforts include the capitalization on my relationships with legal services professionals who, in response to the ABA Well-Being Pledge, are now prioritizing mental health and wellness at their law firms, as perhaps no industry is more impacted by the devastating effects of depression, anxiety and addiction than theirs. However, with all of the talk around mental health and well-being, many of my colleagues are left to wonder where to begin designing a solution to a problem that lives predominantly in the shadows, hidden by a cultural stigma that equates mental health disease with weakness, especially in a profession built on the demonstration of strength?

This is why I developed the Mental Health & Employee Wellness for Legal Services Summit, designed specifically to provide HR, Benefits, Wellness, Talent and Strategy leaders with the knowledge needed to fulfill the objectives of the ABA pledge. Some of the early themes that this event will be addressing include:

  • Wellness as a Strategic Growth Driver
  • The ABA Pledge and Resources Available for Mental Health Programs
  • Environment and Culture: How Design, Approach and Compassion Can Help Support a Culture of Well-Being all While Managing Costs’
  • Shifting from Wellness to Well-Being – Innovative Manners to Build a Healthier Workplace
  • Recruiting, Retaining, Rewarding and Retiring “Key Talent” in Today’s Competitive Environment – How a Wellness Program Can Assist
